There are surprises, and then there are “Actually, this dentist appointment is for you and I’m getting you veneers” surprises.
Content creator Bryan The Diamond told his assistant Sasha they were filming a normal day-in-the-life video. First stop: the dentist, supposedly for Bryan.
Except Bryan wasn’t getting his teeth cleaned.
Sasha was getting a new smile.
And judging by the immediate tears, this was not exactly on his bingo card for the day.
Sasha explains in the video that about two years earlier, he was riding an electric scooter home from work at night in Miami when his wheel hit a missing section of pavement. He went over the handlebars and landed face-first on the asphalt.
His teeth took the impact.
Some were knocked out entirely. He fractured his wrist. And in the years afterward, he says he dealt with dental work, braces and aligners, constant discomfort, headaches, and a smile that had become a major insecurity.
Bryan had apparently heard enough about it to know exactly what he wanted to do.
So he secretly booked Sasha an appointment to begin getting a full set of porcelain veneers, then brought him to the dentist under the guise of filming content.
And this is where you should just watch the video.
The whole thing takes place over a couple of weeks, from Sasha getting temporary veneers to eventually seeing his finished smile.
But my favorite part isn’t really the before and after.
It’s that Bryan paid attention.
Sasha had talked about his teeth. About the accident. About the pain. About how self-conscious they made him feel.
And somebody in his life actually heard him.
Then quietly figured out how to help.
There is also an unreasonable amount of “fierce,” several needle-related panic moments, a temporary veneer casualty involving a chicken wing, and Sasha’s extremely sensible decision that the first thing he wants to eat with his new teeth is pancakes.
So yes, obviously, we watched the entire thing.
Humans can be pretty freaking awesome.
